Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan vowed to hunt down and punish those behind the heinous and despicable attack on the Turkish flag along the Nusaybin–Qamishli border, declaring that such vile provocations against Türkiye will never go unanswered.

Speaking at his party’s parliamentary group meeting, Erdogan delivered a fierce response to the vile attack carried out by YPG terrorists against the Turkish flag, calling it a cowardly act aimed at undermining national unity.

“We Will Hold Those Dirty Hands Accountable”

Erdogan said the shameful assault on the Turkish flag crossed a red line and would not be tolerated. “We will certainly find those dirty hands that dared to reach for our glorious flag, and we will make those traitors pay for it,” he said.

He confirmed that the Ministries of National Defense and Justice immediately launched investigations, stressing that anyone found negligent or complicit would face consequences without exception.

Terrorists Cannot Hide Behind Kurds

Drawing a sharp line, President Erdoğan made clear that terrorist organizations have no right to speak on behalf of Kurdish people.
“The terrorist organization is one thing; my Kurdish brothers and sisters are another,” he said.

Erdogan underlined that Syrian Kurds are Türkiye’s brothers and sisters, recalling the oppression they suffered under the former brutal regime in Syria.

Warning Against Deception and Provocation

President Erdoğan warned against dirty propaganda efforts seeking to incite Kurdish citizens through lies and distortion under the pretext of regional operations. “No one can mortgage the will of my Kurdish brothers,” he said, urging vigilance against these treacherous games.

What Happened?

The despicable attack took place along the Nusaybin–Qamishli border, where YPG terrorists on the Syrian side targeted the Turkish flag in a deliberate act of provocation. Following the incident, Turkish soldiers raised the glorious Turkish flag again.
